Allaire Hole 6

Postby Ramsfan1 » Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:01 am

We are well aware of the perpetual sogginess of the hole 6 fairway. We knew this was a spot that would be damp more often than the rest of the course, but did not anticipate the record amounts of rain we've received the past few months. The fairways weren't even that saturated when we received a lot of snow this past winter.

We are examining ways to address this, although whatever is done will not be easy, as it will be difficult to bring a vehicle close enough to dump soil, stone dust, mulch or whatever materials we deem necessary. We will look into getting some planks to lay down on the far right side of the fairway off the tee to minimize players getting their shoes drenched.

This issue is on our radar, and we'll do the best we can to deal with this moving forward.

Update:

We are in the process of constructing a wooden walkway parallel to the right side of the hole 6 fairway. While the lay of the land will never completely solve the issue of perpetual sogginess on this hole, this walkway should at least alleviate the problem of players' feet getting saturated right off the tee. We plan on running it probably about halfway down the fairway. Please be both patient AND CAREFUL while this is in its construction stage.

Also- the path going from basket 4 to the hole 5 tee has been re-routed. No longer will players face the possibility of a saturated, muddy pathway 25-35 feet from the basket.

We think players will welcome these changes!

100 feet of walkway have been put down adjacent to Allaire hole 6. We hope when complete this will alleviate the unfortunate circumstances with the saturation of this fairway. We've had record amounts of rain this year. Hopefully the boardwalk will mitigate these unfortunate circumstances. We do have a "worst case scenario" plan that we feel would salvage the hole if we would ever have to reconfigure it. One thing at a time!
